I listen to brutal death and i would not want to be considered as death metallist cause theres lot of shitty dm bands such as COB or COF (yaeh i know theyre joke metal) or so. But fine idea. |

Genres like Melodic Death, Mathcore, Grindcore, Nu metal, Industrial, Alternative metal, Funeral doom, Sludge metal, Folk metal etc. are classified as "FUSION" genre not "SUBGENRE". That's another story. So, that's why I don't mention them here. Not because I underestimate them. |

| Based on wiki I list here FUSION genres for heavy metal.It's open to question and it doesn't represent my opinion. Moreover, I agree with those who think some of them are not metal even. LIST;
[Alternative metal - Christian metal - crust punk - drone metal - folk metal - funk metal - grindcore - grunge - industrial metal - metalcore - neo-classical metal - nu metal - post-metal - rap metal - sludge metal].

Also, if your not allowing 'fusion genre' then you shouldn't have viking metal. It should be 'folk metal'. Black metal spawned viking metal as a subgenre of black. And 'fusion' genres, as your description has it is wrong. Fusion is like 'atmospheric black doom metal' not 'melodic death metal' thats a subgenre off death metal, with brutal and technical death metal. :) |

Melodeath is currently my favorite sub-genre (or it could be sub-sub-genre?). Well I like some gothic bands too, in general if the music is metal without rap or dance i like it. ;)

| @ heh: Thank you for bring it up. I was of two minds as to which one (Folk or Viking) I should put in, since poll is restricted to ten options max. I eventually came up with Viking metal. So here, due to the restriction, you can definitely take Viking metal as an inclusive of both. |
